II. Internship & Free Social Year (FSJ)

The Youth Art School works with a long-term pedagogical concept. Our artistic offers are aimed specifically at children and young people, but also at older interested people. They are designed for continuity and are run all year round by experienced artists, craftspeople and teachers with many years of experience. The focus is on the creativity and imagination of the participants. The standard is not performance-oriented knowledge transfer, but empowerment in the application of artistic forms of expression and their implementation at the highest possible level. The project partners are primarily schools, day-care centres and cultural associations. Young people who see their future in the creative-artistic field can prepare themselves specifically for studies or training with us.

Content of the Free Social Year:

• artistic and creative work with children and young people
• Supervision of holiday camps and school groups
• learning arts and crafts, e.g. ceramics, printing, textile design
• joint work in the various projects; assisting the course and project leaders
• workshop assistance; brainstorming, conception, implementation & follow-up
• assistance at events
• development and implementation of own project ideas & the possibility of own artistic work

The volunteer can acquire the following skills with us: 

• basics of working with children and young people
• basic knowledge of artistic techniques & materials
• teamwork

Very important for us is the desire to work independently, to use one’s own initiative and to deal openly with all visitors, regardless of religion, skin colour, origin or social background. In return, we offer an open, democratic and equal working atmosphere, professional and practical support for your own projects and a creative and insightful year.
