Sebastian Schimmel was born in Nordhausen in 1983. After half a degree in architecture at the Bauhaus University in Weimar, he completed a Master of Arts degree in theatre studies at the Leipzig University. Most recently, he worked as a dramaturge at the Theater of the Young World Leipzig, the oldest professional municipal theatre for young audiences in Germany. Before that, he freelanced as a photographer and graphic designer, as an author, musician and narrator in radio play productions for public radio, as a theatre producer at the Schauspiel Leipzig and nationwide in the independent scene. Since summer 2021, he has been employed at the Jugendkunstschule Nordhausen.
